Parents need to be role models for their children. I remember my parents always were considerate of others, and that is where I learned it. My father could not walk past a Salvation Army kettle without putting some money in it. I remember when we would shop downtown Long Beach there was a kettle on every corner. He knew that, too, so before going he would load up his pockets with change. Then he would give me some, and my brother so we could all help. It is a funny memory, but it was a great lesson.

I went to a fashion show once with my mother that her sorority hosted. The room must have had over 100 people in it easily. I saw my mother go up to each person in that room and greet them. I was amazed. It was great to watch how each person reacted to her warmth, and when she left each person was smiling.

I am very fortunate that I had such great role models.

Hi Rocque,
Thank you for dropping by and for your comment. Now wouldn't it be an amazing world is everyone followed your suggestion... “Do onto others as you would have them do onto you”.

I defiitely agree that Random acts of kindness should become a way of life and come naturally rather than having to think about it. I'm not sure if people realise that even a kind comment or smile is a Random Act of Kindness.

I wrote a post or more than one on random acts of kindness on my blogs before. I agree with treating people how they would like to be treated more than how you want them to treat you. It just works out though that when you can treat someone how they would like to be treated you are looking out for their best interest hopefully.

"Do onto others as you would have them do onto you" is a famous saying. Now you would not expect the homeless person you see every time you go to the grocery store to go in and pay for your groceries, but what if you asked him or her on your way in if you could get them some groceries while you were shopping? Or what if you asked them if you could bring them a jacket or a new blanket or something? Then you actually did it.

Now wouldn't that be awesome? Random acts of kindness should become a way of life for more and more people instead of something unusual.
